iOS 11 has been revealed at the yearly WWDC and will be officially launched in this fall. The new iOS always comes with new features and improvements, but iPhone 5/5c, iPad 4th generation and older will say goodbye to iOS 11. For the rest iOS 11 compatible devices, when trying to update new iOS 11 may find that the iPhone or iPad is stuck on the Apple logo and cannot continue to startup.
In this post, we are specially going to show you how to fix an iPhone/iPad stuck on Apple logo when update to new iOS 11 with 4 solutions.
Here we will show you three common ways to fix iPhone or iPad stuck on Apple logo, which works for most users. Try them one by one.
This is the first as well as the quickest solution to try. Generally, most iOS issues can be solved by a simple restart or force reset.
To restart your iPhone/iPad: Hold down the sleep/wake button on the right side of your iPhone/iPad for few seconds until you see the slide to power-off screen.
To hard reset your iPhone/iPad: Press and hold the Lock/Wake button on the right side of your iPhone. At the same time, press and hold down the Home button (for iPhone 7/7 Plus, you should hold the Volume Down button on the left side while keeping the Lock/Wake button pressed). Keep holding both the buttons until you see the Apple Logo.
If solution 1 not working, you can try Recovery Mode to fix iOS 11 stuck on Apple logo issue. The Recovery Mode allows you to do a fresh installation of iOS.
Step 1. Connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer. Perform a hard reset as we mentioned in Solution 1.
Step 2. Let go of the buttons when the Connect to iTunes screen appears on your iPhone. Now your iPhone is in recovery mode.
Step 3. A window pops up in iTunes and asks if you want to Update or Restore the iPhone. Click Update. Your iPhone will be upgraded to iOS 11.
If Recovery Mode fails, you can try putting your iPhone or iPad in DFU (default firmware update) mode. This will erase all data on the iPhone so you should make a backup before you do this.
Step 1. Launch iTunes and connect your iPhone or iPad to computer.
Step 2. Turn off your iPhone or iPad by holding down the Power button sliding to turn it off.
Step 3. Press and hold the Power button on the right-side of the iPhone for about 3 seconds. While still holding the Power button, now also press and hold the Home button (or Volume Down button on iPhone 7/7 Plus).
Step 4. Continue to hold both the Power button and Home button (Volume Down on iPhone 7/7 Plus) button for about 10 seconds.
Step 5. Release the power button but continue to hold the Home button (Volume Down) button for about 5 seconds. Continue to hold down the Home button until a message appears in iTunes telling you an iPhone has been detected.
Step 6. It will prompt you to restore your device. You can restore your iPhone to factory settings or restore from a previous backup.
