Thanks to the ‘Messages on iCloud’ feature introduced at the Worldwide Developers Conference, you are enabled to sync messages across iPhone, iPad, iPod touch as well as your Mac computer via iCloud. That means you can easily sync messages from one iPhone to another, and from iPhone to Mac as long as you are logged with same iCloud account and the ‘Messages on iCloud’ feature is enabled.
What’s more, if you delete a message on your iPhone it will get automatically deleted from your iPad or Mac and vice versa. And because your full Messages archive is now synced via iCloud, iOS 11 only keeps the most recent messages on your iPhone or iPad, which saves your device storage.
Now follow along this guide to learn how to enable Messages on iCloud feature to start sync messages on iPhone/iPad and Mac.
Step 1. Launch Settings app on iPhone or iPad in iOS 11, and scroll down to Messages.
Step 2. You will see Messages on iCloud option, just turn on it.
On the upcoming new Mac system macOS High Sierra, you can also enable the Message on iCloud feature. With the same iCloud account logged on your Mac and iPhone, the messages will synced between your Mac and iDevice automatically.
Step 1. Open Messages app on your Mac. Log in with the same Apple ID on your iPhone or iPad.
Step 2. Click on Messages menu at the top left corner and select the Preferences.
Step 3. Click on Accounts and make sure you’ve enabled the same iMessage account.
Step 4. Check the box next to ‘Enable Messages on iCloud’.
